RAID 0 Data Recovery

DiskEng provides RAID recovery solutions for any configuration of RAID arrays. Our in house technical ability to retrieve data from failed raid servers and multiple disk RAID arrays, including RAID 0 striped arrays is unmatched in the data recovery industry.

RAID 0 is commonly referred to as striping. Data is striped across a minimum of two or more hard drives in a system. Since no redundant information is stored performance is good, but the failure of any one disk in the array results in loss of access to the entire array.

Over the years we have recovered terabytes of data from a vast number of striped RAID arrays. These include both software RAID and hardware RAID setup. Whatever the cause of failure and however encountered, we can retrieve your data in no time.

RAID 0 Data Loss

RAID 0 striped arrays can be implemented through software, where the operating system provides the underlying RAID 0 striping or through hardware where a dedicated hardware RAID controller provides the RAID 0 stripe configuration. RAID 0 striping enables efficient use of disk storage, since striping allows data read/write operations to occur simultaneously in parallel across each disk in the array offering the best RAID performance.

Whether you have a software RAID 0 stripe or a hardware RAID 0 stripe configuration, striped RAID arrays can still fail preventing access to any configured volumes in the array. RAID 0 failure can happen if the RAID array becomes damaged due to underlying software corruption or if the hardware RAID controller fails or if one or more of the RAID hard drives in the array fail due to a hard disk crash damaging the RAID setup and causing data loss. This can affect any type of RAID storage, including IDE RAID, SATA RAID and SCSI RAID disks.

Since RAID 0 striped arrays do not produce any redundancy they are not fault tolerant. The effects of data loss in a RAID 0 setup can be catastrophic which sometimes out weighs the benefits of RAID 0 performance if not maintained correctly. When a RAID 0 striped array fails it is very important to isolate the problem without making any changes to the hard drives or their ordering in the array. Every disk in the array is as important as other. If any of the disks physically fail it is absolutely paramount that nothing is attempted that could cause further damage. If in doubt do not try anything your self or allow others because any corruption to the RAID configuration or serious damage to the striped RAID array can lead to complete loss of all your data.

Advanced RAID Recovery

DiskEng RAID recovery expertise is based on our hard drive recovery and software recovery capabilities. Our strict engineering procedures ensure when handling RAID 0 storage arrays and RAID 0 stripe data, each disk in the array undergoes hardware testing and is then put through an advanced disk imaging process, using specialist equipment and proprietary imaging software. This produces forensically sound raw data copy of each disk onto one of our dedicated 12TB RAID servers as a collection of disk images for software RAID recovery.

Our data recovery specialist engineers use a combination of raw data analysis and RAID data pattern recognition to confirm the RAID stripe size and RAID disk ordering. Using advanced RAID recovery software solutions we then emulate the disk images as "virtual disks" from which a virtual striped RAID array is created, with critical data striping being generated on-the-fly through proprietary software. From this virtual array all configured volumes and stored user data files are located and recovered onto a new disk storage media.

This level of technical ability allows us to retrieve RAID 0 data files quickly and efficiently from many serious RAID storage failures. We can retrieve critical data files by reverse engineering complex problems that affect the RAID 0 partition, RAID 0 striping, and RAID configuration and many other common causes of data loss. If you encounter a RAID 0 failure, don't panic, safely power down the RAID storage system and contact us anytime, 24x7 365 days a year, for expert RAID recovery advice and emergency data recovery solutions.
