DAT Tape Data Recovery

DiskEng DAT tape recovery expertise provide you with guaranteed data recovery solutions, no matter what the problem. DAT tapes suffer from the same failures as with any tape storage, both logical and physical failures.

DDS (Digital Data Storage) DAT tapes are relatively cheap and popular backup tape media, commonly used for general backup and widely supported by popular backup software.

Whilst still very reliable, DAT tapes can encounter common tape failures. We can successfully retrieve DDS tape data from all these problems, read errors, corruption, bad blocks, stretching, overwritten, de spooling including snapped tapes.

DAT Tape Recovery

DAT tapes use the "Helical Scan" recording method for all data storage. Where data is recorded diagonally along the recording width of the DAT tape. This method is used across the entire DDS DAT tape range. We have recovered data from all variants, including; DDS1, DDS2, DDS3, DDS4, DDS72 and now also DDS160 tapes.

DAT Recovery Expertise

We have recovered data from many different problems encountered by DDS DAT tapes. The majority of these were from initialised and overwritten DAT tapes. If you have accidentally initialised or relabeled your DAT tape overwriting the initialisation data block, the tape will appear blank. We have developed unique solutions to successfully bypass this type of problem and retrieve data beyond the initialised EOD (End of Data) marker.

If you have accidentally overwritten your DAT tape, no matter how serious, we can help. Our proven unique solutions enable us to overcome and retrieve any remaining data. Whilst the data that has been overwritten is irrecoverable, data stored beyond the recent recording would be available for recovery. Our in house tape recovery solutions enable us to access this area and retrieve the inaccessible data in these circumstances.

Any DAT tape media stored overtime may encounter bad blocks or read errors when you come to restore the stored data. We have solutions to deal with this particular type of problem. Our bespoke hardware tape recovery systems and specialist tape recovery software tools allow us to read the tape in access modes not available through everyday backup software. This allows us to retrieve raw data before directly extracting your data files.

Logically corrupt or physically damaged, we can retrieve your data. We have successfully retrieved data from DDS DAT backup tapes created by different backup software applications. Arcserve, BackupExec, Windows NTbackup, 2000 backup, Retrospect for Macintosh and others. If you have lost data from your DAT tape or cannot access critical backup data because of either logical or physical damage and need the data recovered fast, contact DiskEng immediately for guaranteed DAT tape data recovery.
