”Many thanks for recovering my files after I dropped my laptop. When it failed to boot up I thought my files were lost. Would recommend to a friend.”
S Elliot, Stockport
A laptop containing a 1TB Toshiba hard disk drive arrived at our laboratory in Oxford from Stockport. Our hardware data recovery specialists examined the drive bearing in mind that it had been dropped, revealing that the read/write heads had been damaged by the impact. The spindle motor which can often be damage following an impact event was found to be operating correctly. Fortunately, the laptop was not operational at the time, otherwise the resulting damage may have been much more serious.
Our data recovery engineers were able to rebuild the drive, overcoming the damage read/write heads, enabling a sector-by-sector image copy of the drive to be secured to our servers in accordance with our data recovery procedures. A dozen unreadable bad sectors were encountered during the imaging process.
An examination of the secured image by our data recovery engineers revealed a small recovery partition and a 1TB NTFS volume containing the operating system. The file system analysis revealed the volume contained approximately 640GB of files, containing the Windows 10, program files, photos, artwork images, scanned data and office documents, where were returned on an external USB hard disk drive.
