We received a 1TB Western Digital My Cloud box at our labs, which had started making clicking noises and could not be accessed over the network. When our data recovery specialists examined the hard disk drive, it was clear that read/write heads were failing, possibly brought about by the drive running at high temperature.

Our engineers were able to overcome the read/write head failure and read 99% of the sectors from the disk. Our data recovery specialists scanned the file system, and were able to determine that the unreadable only affecting system areas of the file system. A complete recovery of the data was possible, consisting mostly of photos and document files.
