“After our PC crashed and froze many times, we contacted our supplier who recommended DiskEng to us. A big thank you for recovering our data from the failed drive. Excellent service and advice from friendly staff.”

We received a 1TB Seagate hard disk drive at our laboratory in Oxford from Nottingham. After examining the drive our hardware data recovery specialists found that the drive would power down and go offline after hitting a read error. This problem is caused by a fault present in the maintenance area of the hard disk drive, which indicates to the firmware that a serious failure has occurred, which results in the drive powering down and going offline.
Our hardware data recovery engineers were able to overcome the maintenance issue, which allowed them to take a sector-by-sector image copy of the hard disk drive. Approximately 200 unreadable bad sectors were encountered during the imaging process.
Our data recovery specialists undertook a detailed examination of the disk image locating a single 1TB NTFS volume on the drive. The NTFS volume contained approximately 630GB of data including the operating system, program files and documents. A detailed analysis found that the unreadable bad sectors fortunately only affected some of the operating system and program files.
