Dartford is a town in the northwest of the English county of Kent, close to the border of Greater London. Dartford (Population 2011: 97,365) is a commuter town sited in the valley of the River Darent. The first inhabitants in the area were a tribe of prehistoric hunter-gathers, dating back 250,000 years, with occupation through the Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age. When Watling Street was built by the Romans, a ford was required to cross the River Darent, from which the settlement gets its name. The first settlement on the current site of Dartford is believed to have been established by the Saxons, Dartford Manor mentioned in the Domesday Book. During medieval times Dartford was an important market town and waypoint for pilgrims and travellers on their way to and from Cantebury and the Continent. For this reason, several religious orders were established in the area, including the Knights Templar in the 12th century, who occupied Dartford Manor. In the 14th century a priory was established, housing the Dominican and Francisan monks, who built hospitals to care for the sick.

Agriculture brought the earliest industries in the area, including the brewing of traditional beers and ales. Chalk mining and lime-burning were also important to the area. Fulling, the cleansing of wool drove the need for creating power using the water from the river, with further hydropowered machinery also being operated. The first English paper mill was constructed in 1588. Around this time iron ingots were transported from the iron-makers on the Weald to England’s first iron-slitting mill, built next to the Darent at Dartford Creek. At the end of the 18th century engines, boliers and other machinery was being built by the blacksmith, some of which was used at the local gunpowder factory. Heavy engineering was also undertaken in the town at the same time, by the 20th century including refrigeration and vehicle production. The pharmaceutical industry also boomed in the area, although later sold off to property developers.
Dartford is now a commuter town mostly for London, with most industry now vanished. Offices, shops and restaurants have been developed on former industrial sites. With Dartford now mainly a residential area, the main demand for data recovery is from laptop, external and desktop hard disk drives, with only a small demand for recovering data from large scale enterprise level storage solutions, such a SAN and NAS RAID systems. Whatever the problem, the type of storage and its capacity, DiskEng have the appropriate solution for your data recovery requirements. "A big thank you for recovering my files. Plugged my USB drive into my new laptop, which asked to reinitialise the drive. Unfortunately, I clicked yes and lost a lot of important files which are required."
