Lancaster is the county town of Lancashire in northwest England, situated on the River Lune. Lancaster (Population: 45,952) is an ancient settlement dominated by the castle, much of its history based around its port and canal. Lancaster appears in the Domesday book at Loncastre, Lon referring to the River Lune and castre meaning fort. The first known habitation in the area dates to the Roman Occupation in the 1st century, a fort built on the present site of Lancaster Castle. The fort rebuilt in stone the following sentry is believed to have remained active through to the end of the Roman Occupation in the 5th century. Lancaster appears to have remained inhabited, although little is known about it until the Norman Conquest in the 11th century.

Lancaster Data Recovery

William I took control Lancaster soon after 1066. Lancaster has been a market town since gaining its first charter in 1193. Unlike many other towns in England, construction of the castle was not until the 13th century and later expanded by Elizabeth I in the 16th century. Many buildings in the city centre date from the 19th century, when the port became one of the busiest in the UK, holding great importance for the slave trade, until the river silted up making passage difficult. Lancaster was finally granted city status in 1937. The economy of Lancaster is mainly service-oriented. Lancaster does produce many products, such as animal feed, textiles, chemicals, paper, synthetic fibre, livestock and farm machinery. In recent years’ hi-tech industry has emerged in the area, with major investment in IT and communications.

With such a wide range of companies and the university, a vast range of storage devices requiring data recovery are present in the city, such as high end enterprise level RAID arrays, desktop, laptop and external hard disks, as well as USB flash devices.
